Instead of having to toggle every individual system that you want active/inactive, it would be nice to have them grouped into named subsets. For example, say you have a large ship and do not want to scroll past 128 "interior light" entries, just group them all into "Lighting", and keep that group shrunk to its title. This is a tiny feature, But I feel it'd be easy added.
I'd like to see small cracks/larger cracks appear in the small cockpit glass if you hit little rocks or ships/asteroids.
It'd be a tiny feature but it'd be one of those things people appreciate.
I personally am sick that the part attached to the rotor HAS to become a different ship. I want to be able to create deploy able landing gear BUT, can't control them because they have become different ship. Creates issues towards creativity.
Shared energy between them would be a minimum if you ask me.

There should a way to connect two blocks together in a way that would allow them to be rotated. An example of this would be the side thrusters on the Serenity (from firefly) which can be rotated 180 degrees to allow the ship to fly forwards, backwards, and to hover.
If survival is implemented, they should have it that the astronauts must get food, by making a farm that needs power to produce food. Water could probably be combined with food. Sleep, you could need to make an astronaut bed that they use in the ISS. Oxygen you get from farms or by phytoplankton farms. Normal farms produce less oxygen then phytoplankton farms. Going along with other suggestions for configutable ship-system groupings: Basic hotkeys (L for lights etc) should stay the same, however, when entering a cockpit or pilots terminal, the item based hotbar should be replaced by a new bar (since they aren't of use while engaged in the act of piloting) that is unique and configurable for each ship. My idea revolves around a tool specifically for applying decals to ships, maybe some kind of paint spray gun? Although, liquids and gases would not work in space! The tool would add a decal to your ship starting from the bottom left block of the decal. Left clicking once would apply a holographic decal to the ship. All objects in game (which don't have there thrusters enabled) would be affected by collisions and gravity which would change that objects velocity.
The ships should have a hull status indicator, and if a ship has severe damage and nobody repairs it(!), the ship should stop working or explode.
I think, when there is multiplayer it needs customizable informative signs that can be opened and show as window. (Its really uncomfortable to place beacons, it spams on screen)
I have read an idea about Escape Pods which is that there should be modeled escape pods which are about player size. It has a high amount of votes but I believe people would like to build their own. Build your own escape pod and secure it into place with one time use explosive bolts so that you will have a small amount of speed coming out of your launch tube, hangar door, etc, while trying not to be blown up by far larger ...more »
This should be a very easy to make feature but will result in much better designs.
More construction block types like:
Round angle: just a 1/4 circle angle block
Cylinder: a cylindrical block
Round corner: a 1/4 sphere
Concave version of the above
