Currently, there is very little challenge to the game, which is absolutely fine for a creative mode. But when survival is implemented there will need to be something to survive against. This could be done by having some AI Space Engineers that inhabit some asteroids or pre-loaded stations, but not all. This means you have to compete for resources and will add a new element to the game. Perhaps the player chooses whether ...more »
Seems that a lot of people are focusing on multiplayer where everyone has their own ship but after building a few very large ships I realized how lonely/boring it could end up being.... So I'm suggesting crew station based multiplayer similar to "Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator" where players can control different aspects of the same ship. I don't think it should be forced on players but more like a alternative that ...more »
I think, when there is multiplayer it needs customizable informative signs that can be opened and show as window. (Its really uncomfortable to place beacons, it spams on screen)
Dedicated Server and essential admin tools. Ban list, white list, etc.
In big ships it would be nice to place some seats that do no allow steering the ship but only allow certain tasks like using some weapons, open doors etc
In this way a big ship is realisticly used by many players or a co pilot solving different tasks.
I think this should be very easy to implement.
[Start on an asteroid, similar to the one with the docking pad. build a ship station, whatever. Travel in a direction to find a lone asteroid. This asteroid has abundance of iron, but barely anything else. mine a full load and travel to the next, or return to starting point and add it to your station. Repeat. this one has uranium, this one doesn't.] (implemented) [find an abandoned station raided by pirates. has barely ...more »
This is an alternative solution to the problem set out here, but it also provides other benefits as well. http://spaceengineerssurgestionbox.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Renewable-Recources/45617-26587 The problem in the above suggestion is that resources will eventually run out, and "renewable" ones wouldn't really be easy to implement (where physics is concerned). The idea of being able to warp/hyperjump/slipspace to other ...more »
It is totally annoying that you can't re-read missed chat in multiplayer.
Pressing the chat-hotkey should open a small window with the last written chat-messages, with the ability to scroll up to read even older messages.
I hear many people complaining about that in multiplayer, so why not add this?
So my idea is that when we have our ships built if they're large ships they can have a warp/hyper drive like system where you can go to other peoples quadrants. So you'll have maybe a captains log book or something to communicate with other captains where you can communicate with them and request permission to enter their quadrant. If they do you can go over their to mine in their quadrant or talk to them in a chat or ...more »
I had an idea, there could be warp gate or just a menu in the ship which would open a map of galaxy (or server list) and you could travel to worlds of other players, this would allow for trading, war and other Interactions with players.
I have heard a suggestion regarding turrets only firing on enemy factions, but I feel like having only one condition for fire somewhat limiting. My alternative would be that in order to avoid fire from turrets, you must be carrying the appropriate ID card to pass unscathed. The ship owner (yes, cockpit ownership is needed) could print the cards allowing people to pass certain turrets, and distribute them as inventory ...more »
