Zero gravity movement

If you've ever read Enders game or even seen the movie, you'll know what I'm talking about, the way they push off walls in the zero gravity environment of the battle room to move around without jet packs. Basically, I'm suggesting this for space engineers, the ability to grab any or perhaps a specific block and latch on to it, from there you can push off once more, ricocheting from wall to wall in a controlled matter, ...more »

Particle effects to demonstrate ship movement

At the moment, traversing the large areas between asteroids is slow. In fact it often feels as if you are not moving at all due to lack of reference. To solve this, client side particles could be added to the game world, which would give the impression of movement. An example of this effect can be seen in elite:dangerous; (see 2:13 for low velocity example) This would definitely ...more »

Maneuvering Thrusters For Pitch, roll & Yaw control

At the moment, the only way to control the roll, pitch or yaw of your ship is to use gyroscopes. Gyroscopes are great and all, but filling room after room with them in order to get decent manoeuvrability out of your ship isn't exactly realistic. I propose a new type of thruster block, which unlike the existing ones, would apply torque to your ship. They would be mapped onto the same keys as pitch, roll & yaw are, and ...more »

Option to set position to remain relative to.

The dampening effect of ships engines currently only align to objects on the map (a static framework usually containing at least a base and some asteroids), but what if you could set a vessel to remain relative to another vessel? This will most likely require a combination of remote controls and Antennae, but I am not the expert here. Hopefully this can lead to having to deal with non-static asteroid fields, and flying ...more »

Gyroscope option to auto stabilize ship in planet atmosphere

Currently, when you set a large ship to hover above a planet (namely, in areas where gravity is stronger), the inertia dampeners aren't enough to keep the ship from tilting to strange angles when engineers move about inside of it, or when small ships enter to land inside. It would be great if there was a setting that allowed us to enable auto stabilization when our large ships (and small ships?) are hovering within a ...more »

Coordinance system and target painter

the coordinates system would make it where you can type coordinates into a remote-block or cockpit and it will use all available modes of transportation to get to that point. the target painter is a gun like tool for your small, or large ships as well as a station and the player that shoots out a laser that gets the coordinates of the nearest object within its range (pretty much "if you can see it you can paint it") (also ...more »
