Reconsider magnetic boots.

The current artificial gravity solution is very sloppy and causes problems such as allowing a player to fall off a cliff in space, which is absurd. According to a blog post magnetic boots were experimented with but discarded, however I think the current alternative is worse not better. One good example of magnetic boots working in a game is shattered horizon as seen in several ...more »

Magnetic Weapons, Plasma, and miscellaneous stuff

This was inspired from reading a post by James Lankford about possible technological advances in 64 years. Magnetic Weaponry: No recoil, no propellant, just magnets. Fires metallic slugs of some sort at tremendous speeds, piercing the toughest of armor. Major improvements over the current weaponry being tested by the US Navy for use on destroyers. This would allow for the easy repair and creation of ships without having to go back and forth between the ship being built and the main cargo hold. This idea would also dovetail nicely with the magnetic rails idea ...more »

It makes far more sense than basically having the sun 'shoot' meteorites at your powered blocks, which always struck me as unrealistic and unfair. Meteorites could instead spawn in a random location with a random velocity, ...more »

Allow electricity to flow through langing gear.

This would not only allow ships to recharge upon landing on a station, but if you put an expensive large bulky solar array your ship and don't want to take it into combat. You could detach the part and let it drift while you take a now more maneuverable battle ship into battle with a reactor that uses uranium. (or make batteries solar friendly) This would make those inverted landing gears on stations very useful for ...more »
