Have you just built a fairly large mining craft and want another to start a fleet? Don't want to spend the time building an identical one from scratch? Yeah, me neither, which is where blueprints come in. Whilst in a ship, you should be able to save a blueprint of the ship under a chosen name. You can then simply open a menu and spawn in a blueprinted ship at any time. This could work differently in creative and survival ...more »

A Hologram that displays the outside of your ship, showing damage, overheating, docking clamps, etc. It would also track external objects, like asteroids. It would also mark ships with symbols, like the (?) shown in the picture. Feel free to add on to my idea!
The ability to create programs that run on ships which can control any part of it, from doors to guns to thrusters. this would be preferable Lua as it's lightweight and easy to learn.
Like wheels, magnetics gears, treads (like tanks) , or repulsive gear (opposite to magnetic gears) and retractable gear (contributed by Blake)
I miss this things.
What do you think?
Currently, there is very little challenge to the game, which is absolutely fine for a creative mode. But when survival is implemented there will need to be something to survive against. This could be done by having some AI Space Engineers that inhabit some asteroids or pre-loaded stations, but not all. This means you have to compete for resources and will add a new element to the game. Perhaps the player chooses whether ...more »
Idea by DrVagax, taken from the Suggestions Forum "So while pretending i was going to board an enemy space station, i had the idea of having alerts. An alert should be the status the crew and ship would be on, so they know what to prepare for. Green/no alert: - All Interior Lights remain unchanged - Content on the LED display will remain as they were. - No doors will be closed. - No alarm emitted. Orange alert: - All ...more »
Instead of having to toggle every individual system that you want active/inactive, it would be nice to have them grouped into named subsets. For example, say you have a large ship and do not want to scroll past 128 "interior light" entries, just group them all into "Lighting", and keep that group shrunk to its title. If later you need to switch off only some lights, expand the group and select the ones you need. ...more »
It would be interesting for the ships to actually be filled with oxygen and pressurised - then, for instance, if you are in battle and standing next to a hull breach you could get sucked out of the ship.
I submitted this idea on the forum, so the details are here: http://forums.keenswh.com/post/letters-and-numbers-on-shipsstations-6590490?pid=1280075732#post1280075732 For a TL;DR version, basically: Able to label everything and craft/purchase name and letter plates for ships and stations of varying sizes and fonts. Helps with: Customization, Categorization, Organization, and Directions. Someone suggested I suggest my ...more »
I'm aware that the devs will certainly have more items for us to place in the world than we currently have. However, a few things that I would particularly like to see: - Computer desks/terminals (maybe even interactive ones?) - Crates - Barrels - Glass windows - Chairs/seating - Beds - Cabinets/chests/lockers - Fire extinguishers/safety equipment (not necessarily to use, but just to look cool) - Information screens ...more »
If we can save our ships to a blueprint, it'd also be great to see an automated ship-repair functionality that would put work into reverting your ship to its blueprint shape. So, look at it this way: you've just escaped from combat, you've just dented your ship in an asteroid field, or you're crawling away from a battle you just won with heavy damage taken. Activate the automated repair function, and you and your repair ...more »
I suggest some form of tool for high-speed boarding of ships, like a handheld or small ship mounted grappling hook device. I think this is necessary because if two ships are moving at a high speed side-by-side and you try to board the other one you are left behind.
This would be especially necessary in multiplayer PvP.
