Have you just built a fairly large mining craft and want another to start a fleet? Don't want to spend the time building an identical one from scratch? Yeah, me neither, which is where blueprints come in. Whilst in a ship, you should be able to save a blueprint of the ship under a chosen name. The ability to create programs that run on ships which can control any part of it, from doors to guns to thrusters. this would be preferable Lua as it's lightweight and easy to learn.

A Hologram that displays the outside of your ship, showing damage, overheating, docking clamps, etc. It would also track external objects, like asteroids. It would also mark ships with symbols, like the (?) shown in the picture. Feel free to add on to my idea!
Currently, there is very little challenge to the game, which is absolutely fine for a creative mode. But when survival is implemented there will need to be something to survive against. This could be done by having some AI Space Engineers that inhabit some asteroids or pre-loaded stations, but not all. Instead of having to toggle every individual system that you want active/inactive, it would be nice to have them grouped into named subsets. For example, say you have a large ship and do not want to scroll past 128 "interior light" entries, just group them all into "Lighting", and keep that group shrunk to its title. It would be interesting for the ships to actually be filled with oxygen and pressurised - then, for instance, if you are in battle and standing next to a hull breach you could get sucked out of the ship.

If we can save our ships to a blueprint, it'd also be great to see an automated ship-repair functionality that would put work into reverting your ship to its blueprint shape. So, look at it this way: you've just escaped from combat, you've just dented your ship in an asteroid field, or you're crawling away from a battle you just won with heavy damage taken. I'm aware that the devs will certainly have more items for us to place in the world than we currently have. I suggest some form of tool for high-speed boarding of ships, like a handheld or small ship mounted grappling hook device. I think this is necessary because if two ships are moving at a high speed side-by-side and you try to board the other one you are left behind.
This would be especially necessary in multiplayer PvP.
